When he brought a crocodile home
There are some stories from Narendra Modi’s life in PM Modi’s book ‘Bal Narendra’. One such story is related to a crocodile. He himself told about it, when he was shooting with Bear Grylls in the famous show ‘Man vs Wild’. He told that when he was swimming in a nearby pond, he saw a baby crocodile there. He brought it home, but his mother explained to him and said that doing so was a sin.
After this, PM Modi left that baby crocodile back in the pond. It is also said that PM Modi swam in a pond full of crocodiles to hoist a flag on a temple.
When he defeated the opponent in a Kabaddi match
PM Modi studied at BN High School in Vadnagar, where an intra-school Kabaddi match was organized between two teams. One team had young players and the other had older players. Since the team with young players lost every time, they asked Modi to make a strategy. Then PM Modi came up with a plan that helped his team win the match.
PM Modi likes cleanliness
PM Modi is always seen wearing clean clothes. He had developed this habit since childhood. His uncle had gifted him canvas shoes, which he used to whiten with pieces of discarded chalk brought from school. He always kept his dress clean. Before sleeping, he used to fold it and keep it under his pillow. In the morning, he used to iron his dress using a metal glass filled with hot water.
When he wrote a play as a student
Narendra Modi once wrote a play named ‘Pilo Phool’ in his school. He also acted in this play. This play was related to the plight of an untouchable woman who was not allowed to come and worship in the temple premises.
Tea selling days
Narendra Modi used to help his father run a tea stall at Mehsana railway station. According to ‘Bal Narendra’, he used to serve food and tea to the soldiers going to the border during the 1962 Indo-China war.
