IND vs SA Match: The Indian team defeated South Africa by 61 runs in the first T20 International match on Friday, thanks to Sanju Samson’s record century and the excellent performance of the spinners. With this, the Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav took a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. Sanju Samson was chosen as the Player of the Match for his brilliant century.
IND vs SA Match
Sanju Samson, who scored a century against Bangladesh on Dussehra on 12 October at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, created history by batting in the same fearless style in the first T20 match against South Africa at Kingsmead ground in Durban on Friday.
Sanju played a stormy innings of 107 runs in just 50 balls and became the first batsman of India and the fourth batsman in the world to score two consecutive centuries in T20 cricket. Sanju hit spectacular shots all around the ground and the Indian fans sitting in the stadium kept enjoying his batting and chanting Sanju-Sanju.
India’s Highest Score
While Sanju had hit a century in just 40 balls in Hyderabad, he completed his century in 47 balls in Durban. Due to his amazing innings, India scored 202 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs, which is its highest score in T-20 against South Africa.
India secured victory in the match as South Africa’s team managed to score only 141 runs in 17.5 overs during their innings. With this triumph, India now leads the four-match series 1-0. Sanju was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Made Spinners Hit Sixes
Sanju especially targeted the South African spinners. Sanju, who opened his account with a four off Aiden Markram’s ball, welcomed Keshav Maharaj, who came to bowl the third over, with a four by hitting a beautiful inside shot on extra cover. On the very next ball, he came out and hit a six on a brilliant lofted shot.
Strengthened his Claim As An Opener
This batsman from Kerala, who has been proving himself in IPL for many years, has been included in the Indian team many times, but he did not get much opportunity to play. He was also with the team in the T20 World Cup, but he did not get a chance to play any match except the practice match.
Sanju was not getting a place in T20 due to players like Rohit, and Virat. After Rohit retired from T20, the team management gave Sanju a chance to open with Abhishek Sharma in the T20 series against Bangladesh.
Sanju, who could not do anything special in Gwalior and Delhi, showed what he could do by playing a fiery innings in Hyderabad and now by hitting his second consecutive century in Durban, he has strengthened his claim as an opener in the T20.
Indian batsmen Faltered In The Last Six Overs
As long as Sanju was batting, it seemed that India would easily cross the score of 250, but in the last six overs, South African bowlers bowled tightly and gave only 40 runs. By the end of 14 overs, India had scored 162 runs for the loss of two wickets, but after that India lost six wickets.
Indian Spinners Wonder
While the Indian batsmen scored a lot of runs against the South African spinners, the African batsmen were seen struggling against Varun Chakraborty and Ravi Bishnoi. Varun and Bishnoi maintained the pressure that Arshdeep created on the host team by dismissing Markram in the very first over.
Varun shook the middle order by dismissing the dangerous-looking Heinrich Klaasen (25) and David Miller (18), while Bishnoi destroyed the lower order by taking the wickets of Patrick Kruger (1), Marco Jansen (12) and Andile Simelane (6). Both took three wickets each. This is South Africa’s fifth consecutive defeat in a T20 match in Durban. The last time they won here was in 2016.
